Best known for her one-person, documentary dramas in which she channels multiple characters, Smith recently conceived, wrote, and performed in Let Me Down Easy, a play about modern medicine from the viewpoint of both patients and healthcare providers, at the Second Stage Theatre in New York City. She is also the author of Fires in the Mirror and Twilight: Los Angeles 1992. She has taught at Stanford University, Yale University, and the University of Southern California at Los Angeles and currently teaches in the Department of Performance Studies at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. In this lecture Smith will talk about her creative process and how she gives voice to multiple points of view in order to tell a story.
