William G. Bowen is president emeritus of Princeton University and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the founding chair of ITHAKA.   His more than twenty books include Crossing the Finish Line: Completing College at America’s Public Universities and The Game of Life:  College Sports and Educational Values.  His most recent book, Higher Education in the Digital Age (Princeton University Press, 2013) examines two of the most visible and important trends in higher education today: exploding costs and the expansion of online learning.
