Event Description

The Brains Behind Morality will examine the interface between traditional philosophical questions (where do values come from?) and the most recent neurological research. Professor Churchland will explore the neurobiological underpinnings of morality and the ways in which our most deeply held values are rooted in the biology of the brain and in behavior common to all mammals. Churchland is a Professor Emerita of Philosophy at the University of California, San Diego, and an adjunct professor at the Salk Institute. Her books include Braintrust, Brain-Wise, and Neurophilosophy. She received a MacArthur Fellowship in 1991.
